WEEK :3 REFLECTIONS (lecture 7 and 9)

 Technology-Enhanced Language Learning (TELL)

As I commence my third week of studying Technology-Enhanced Language Learning (TELL), I am eager to delve into the intricacies of our course syllabus. This week, I anticipate exploring the multifaceted role of technology in facilitating language acquisition.

Our course encompasses a range of thought-provoking topics, including Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), Computer-Assisted Language Learning (CALL), and the effective integration of Educational Technology (EdTech) in language learning. We will also examine the benefits of leveraging Google Drive and Google Classroom to streamline language learning processes.

Throughout this course, I aim to gain hands-on experience with digital tools, including:

Digital storytelling and podcasting software ,Online learning platforms and Learning Management Systems (LMS), Innovative approaches, such as flipping the classroom and creating online courses and Blogger, a tool for creating blogs and sharing ideas with a global audience.

By the end of this course, I am confident that I will have developed a comprehensive understanding of how technology can enhance language learning. I anticipate acquiring practical skills in designing and implementing technology-enhanced language learning environments, which will be invaluable in my future academic and professional pursuits.

I recently discovered the IPA Typewriter, a fantastic online tool that allows me to type in the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA). As a language learner, I find this tool incredibly useful for practicing pronunciation. With the IPA Typewriter, I can easily type in words and phrases in IPA, which helps me to focus on the correct pronunciation. To use the IPA Typewriter, I simply visit the website and start typing. The tool provides a keyboard layout that includes all the IPA symbols, making it easy to type in words and phrases. I can also copy and paste text from other sources into the IPA Typewriter, which is convenient for practicing pronunciation with texts from various sources.

Another valuable tool I've been using is the Phonotizer. This online tool helps me to convert text into phonetic transcriptions. As a language learner, I find this tool essential for improving my pronunciation. To use the Phonotizer, I simply paste the text I want to convert into the tool's input field. The Phonotizer then generates a phonetic transcription of the text, using the IPA. I can choose from various options, such as different accents and transcription styles, to customize the output.

PhoTransEdit is a powerful online tool that allows me to edit and manipulate phonetic transcriptions. As a language learner, I find this tool incredibly useful for refining my pronunciation. With PhoTransEdit, I can paste in a phonetic transcription and edit it using various tools and options. For example, I can change the transcription style, add or remove symbols, and even create custom symbols. The tool also includes a range of features, such as undo and redo functions, which make it easy to work with phonetic transcriptions.

Breaking News English is an innovative online resource that provides news articles and comprehension exercises for language learners. As someone who wants to improve my reading comprehension and vocabulary, I find this website incredibly valuable. The website offers a range of news articles on various topics, each with comprehension exercises and vocabulary quizzes. I can choose from different levels of difficulty, which makes it easy to find articles that suit my language level. The website also includes audio recordings of the articles, which helps me to improve my listening skills.

Lingro is a unique online tool that helps me to learn vocabulary in context. As a language learner, I find this tool incredibly useful for improving my reading comprehension and vocabulary. With Lingro, I can paste in a text and the tool generates a interactive vocabulary list. I can then hover over words in the text to see their translations and definitions. The tool also includes features, such as flashcards and quizzes, which help me to reinforce my learning.

The Cloze Test is a valuable online tool that helps me to improve my reading comprehension and vocabulary. As a language learner, I find this tool incredibly useful for practicing my language skills


 


and  I can choose from a range of texts and difficulty levels. The tool then generates a cloze exercise, where I have to fill in the missing words in the text. I can check my answers and see the correct solutions, which helps me to learn from my mistakes. The tool also includes features, such as scoring and feedback, which help me to track my progress.
